Hi Florian Rietze, can you introduce yourself for those who don’t know you yet ?

Hi I am Florian Rietze. Producer and DJ from the beautiful town Potsdam

You are an electro producer, how and when did you start producing your own tracks ?

I started Producing my own Tracks in the year of 2008. I was Djing since 2005 and now I had the feeling to create something own, something individual. To get more individual as an artist.

How would you describe your music ? And which artists inspired you ?

I would say my music is always a reflection of my inside. I can express myself best in music. I have no special artists who are inspiring me. Inspiration can be everything, like situations, nature, people, feelings and of course music.

Can you describe you creative process?

My creative process is always an experiment. Mostly the idea comes when I am creating sounds on a synth, or whatever. Or I build something around a sample. But it rarely happens, that I have an idea, outside the Studio. And if I have it, I forget it mostly…hehe.

You released many projects on several labels like Steyoyoke Recordings, Concorde Club Recordings. Why working with different labels?

Its good to work on different labels because, you have a bigger variety of sound you can try. And of course you are reaching much more people. I think if you want to make a good development, its always important to get in touch with other artists and listeners. This is also some kind of inspiration.

Can you talk a little bit of  Steyoyoke and Concorde Club Recordings?

Concorde Club Recordings is my homebase in Potsdam. Thats where it all started. The people I have around me there, are some of my closest friends since years. Concorde Club will always be my first love. And my next release will appear there on vinyl in summer. I am very very fresh in the Steyoyoke family. We just got in touch in the last year. Before I was released there, I was a fan of the label. I love the music and the style of the label. Its totally on time. Great artists, great people. I am really looking forward to our future.

Now I really want to create something new, something original

Your last release “Treibholz” has been well received by audience and critics. Can you present this project?

I was bored of editing and remixing stuff. By the way, i did 70 % of all edits/remixes, because some friends asked me for it. Funny, right? Now I really wanted to create something new, something original. And thats it I guess.

What do you think of the Antonio Olivieri and MPathy remixes?

I really like both remixes. The originals are very laid back and deep. What Anotonio and MPathy did, they made real clubby music out of it. The remixes are made for the dancefloor without destroying the original feel of the music. And thats what i like. Great jobs!

We discovered you were also member of a new duo named Mjutah! composed of yourself and Martin Nietert. How it all started and why starting a duo?

Martin is my closest friend. We started together with hip hop at the end of the 90s. We are like brothers.  In the last 5 years we had another Duo-Project on Concorde Club Recordings called Microtune & Takter“. Now we thought its time for change. Our sound is developing and we want to establish a new more adult and unique project. And this is Mjutah! —ADVERTISEMENT— Our debut EP « Horizon » was released in March on Concorde Club Recordings. Get it! —ADVERTISEMENT—

Why a duo? Because everything is duplicated. Ears and arms. Its really more fun to play in a duo then alone.

What’s your next musical project ?

Right now my focus is the upcoming vinyl on Concorde Club Recordings. And besides this, I have done some remixes for a turkish label and Steyoyoke as well.

Have you got some tour planned for the next weeks, months?

Florian Rietze has no tourdates at the moment, but i will play several times in Berlin with the Mjutah project and in Switzerland as well. And maybe there is something happening in France in the next months..lets see.

Do you know some french producer ? What do you think about french electronic scene?

I don’t really know much about the scene in France. But I am a big fan of Nôze. They are totally crazy. Great musicians! And another one for me is Laurent Garnier. Also a very strong producer. Genius!

What about the electronic european scene?

You know, when you live and act in the area of Berlin, its very hard to recognize what happens outside here. Its a like melting pot for electronic music here. Its hard for us to think out of the box. Totally strange. But in the meantime i have been in Zurich several times for example, and I know that they have also a very colorful and beautiful scene for electronic music. And Istanbul and Paris as well. I think actually electronic music, especially techno and house, is going on a real hype. And this happens all around the world. But this is another topic.

What artist we should have a listen for 2013 ?

What should I say? All Concorde Club and Steyoyoke artists..haha!!

What’s your iPod top 5?

⁃   1. Nas – Life’s A Bitch (Arsenal Remix)

⁃   2. Elisa Toffoli – Ancora Qui

⁃   3. High Mighty – The Meaning

⁃   4. Ludovici Einaudi – Bye Bye Mon Amour

⁃   5. Boy – Boris

Thanks a lot for devoting us a bit of your time! Maybe a last word in French to finish the interview?
